1. Agreement and scope

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Gnosys Labs LLC (“Gnosys Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing Synapsis websites, network services, APIs, and command-line services that we operate, including this website (the “Services”). By using a Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Independent Synapsis nodes are operated by third parties and may have separate terms and node rules. These Terms do not make Gnosys Labs responsible for those nodes.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age, that higher age applies. You must be at least 18 and legally permitted to access any node or feature classified for adult content. If you use a Service for an organization, you represent that you can bind it to these Terms.

3. Accounts and security

Provide accurate registration information, keep it current, and do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation. You are responsible for activity under your account and for protecting passwords, signing material, recovery secrets, sessions, CLI credentials, and connected services. Notify [email protected] promptly if you suspect compromise.

Handles and decentralized identifiers may be used across a federated network. We may reclaim or change a handle when reasonably necessary to address impersonation, infringement, security, or technical issues.

4. Your content

You retain ownership rights in content you submit. You grant Gnosys Labs a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt for technical formatting, display, transmit, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and federate the Services. This includes delivering public content and authorized messages to other users and nodes.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit your content and that its use as described here will not violate another person’s rights or the law. You are responsible for your content and the consequences of sharing it.

5. Federation and public activity

Public posts can leave a node

Other nodes, search engines, archives, and users may retain copies that Gnosys Labs cannot control or delete.

Synapsis exchanges profiles, posts, media references, and interactions with independently operated nodes. Their rules, availability, moderation, security, and privacy practices may differ. Federation delivery is not guaranteed. We may block or limit a node when needed for safety, abuse prevention, reliability, or legal compliance.

6. Media and third-party services

Posting media can require a connected Stuffbox service. Stuffbox and other third-party services or websites are governed by their own terms and policies. When you connect one, you authorize the relevant Synapsis service to use approved credentials and scopes on your behalf. You are responsible for managing media with that provider.

We are not responsible for third-party services, content, availability, security, or data practices. A link or preview does not imply endorsement.

7. CLI and agent access

You may authorize the Synapsis CLI, automated tools, or AI agents to act on your account within approved scopes. Actions performed with a valid delegated credential are treated as actions you authorized. You are responsible for reviewing proposed content, choosing the correct account and node, limiting credential access, and revoking credentials that are lost, shared, or no longer needed.

Do not use automation to spam, manipulate engagement, evade limits, scrape unlawfully, or violate these Terms. We may rate-limit, suspend, or revoke automated access that threatens users or a Service.

8. Messages and encryption

Encryption currently protects the text body of supported new one-to-one direct messages. It does not protect legacy messages, group chats, media, files, reactions, edits, calls, link previews, or routing metadata. It does not guarantee recipient behavior, endpoint security, anonymity, availability, forward secrecy, or recovery of old history after a key reset.

Treat encrypted messaging as experimental and do not rely on it for emergencies or situations where failure could cause serious harm. Deleting a federated conversation deletes a local copy only.

9. Acceptable use

You may not use a Service to:

  • break the law or facilitate illegal activity;
  • exploit or endanger children or create, possess, request, or distribute child sexual abuse material;
  • threaten violence, stalk, harass, dox, defraud, impersonate, or unlawfully discriminate;
  • share intimate material without consent or violate privacy, publicity, intellectual-property, or other rights;
  • distribute malware, phishing, credential theft, destructive code, or content intended to compromise systems or accounts;
  • spam, manipulate engagement, evade enforcement, or operate deceptive coordinated accounts;
  • probe, attack, overload, disrupt, or circumvent security or access controls; or
  • collect data by automated means except through authorized interfaces and in compliance with law and reasonable limits.

You must also follow any rules displayed by the node you use.

10. Moderation and enforcement

We may investigate, label, limit, remove, or preserve content; restrict federation; revoke credentials; or suspend or terminate accounts when we reasonably believe it is needed to enforce these Terms or node rules, protect a Service or others, meet legal obligations, or address security and operational risk. Moderation is imperfect, and we do not promise to review every item or dispute.

Use available reporting tools or email [email protected] to report content or request review of an enforcement decision.

11. Intellectual property

Synapsis source code made available under an open-source license is governed by that license. Gnosys Labs branding, site design, and other materials remain owned by Gnosys Labs or its licensors and are protected by law. These Terms do not grant rights to use our names, logos, or trademarks except to identify Synapsis truthfully.

Send infringement notices to [email protected] with your contact details, the material’s location, the basis for your claim, and legally required statements.

12. Service changes and termination

We may add, change, suspend, limit, or discontinue features or a Service. We do not guarantee that a Service or content will always be available, preserved, compatible, or delivered to another node. You may stop using a Service at any time and, where offered, export or delete your account through its settings.

13. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” Gnosys Labs disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, security, availability, and accuracy. We do not warrant that a Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that content or messages will be preserved or delivered.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gnosys Labs and its contributors, providers, and representatives will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, use, or other intangible losses arising from the Services, third-party services, other users, or these Terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising from a Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid us, if any, for that Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

15. General terms

You are responsible for laws that apply to you and your content. Mandatory consumer protections where you live are not limited by these Terms. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum permissible extent and the rest will remain effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them in connection with a reorganization or transfer of a Service.

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and applicable displayed node rules are the entire agreement between you and Gnosys Labs regarding the Services unless we agree otherwise in writing.

16. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as our Services, risks, or legal requirements change. We will post revised Terms here and update the date above. When appropriate, we may provide additional notice. If you do not agree to revised Terms, stop using the affected Service.
